Today Trevor and I are off to look at retirement places in the Carlsbad La Jolla. Will tell you all about it tomorrow.
Got calls from everyone yesterday. Wendy, then Trevor, then Andrew Mack, then Brianne. What a great family! Brianne tells me David will join us in Whistler for the last two days. Looking forward to meeting him.
Yesterday I had lunch with a couple of Robin's Garrett friends. We will do it on a regular basis I hope.

Today I will be having lunch with two of Robin's old Garrett friends. We used to meet regularly for lunch before Robin died.
Tomorrow, Trevor and I will drive down to Carlsbad and La Jolla to look at some retirement villages. I have an appointment with Carlsbad by the Sea and will see what they have to offer.
Wendy continues to call faithfully before her swim. She is in San Francisco. Trevor calls at ten. Andrew Mack calls after 4:00 on his way home from work. Everyone is fine. Bri continues to send pictures of Maddox. I think he could be a model!
If Ian comes to Whistler before the dinner on Saturday, the concierge assures me he will be able to get an additional ticket. I have reserved for 22 so far. Any changes, please let me know.

I made reservations for a Peak to Peak dinner for us all yesterday. The mountain offers a package deal. Your ticket allows you free gondola rides all day, starting at 10:00 am, with the dinner thrown in at 5:30. The dinner is only available on Saturdays unfortunately, so some will have to miss it.You will get your ticket from the concierge. If you cannot do this for any reason, let me know as soon as possible. There is a cancellation fee.
For those driving, your parking will be paid.
Some will be arriving late Friday, so we will stick with the present room assignments until we can all give input on Saturday. Tracey has generously invited us for a fabulous brunch Saturday morning. Thank you, Tracey.
Might check the weather. Bring something warm for chilly evenings if you don't know mountain temperatures. Cloudy, but not rain forecast. Don't forget a bathing suit!

Rain clouds on the horizon.
Last night Trevor hauled up to the kitchen a huge pressure canner, four pounds each of beef, onions, tomatoes and some presoaked beans. While I watched he chopped them all up, added the beans, orange juice and a few chopped chilis, poured it into jars and loaded up the pressure canner, two layers. After suitable cooking, canning and sealing, he had a nice batch of storable jars of chili. We ate some for dinner. Delicious! He left me six jars so I will never starve. Love to all, Val

Overcast, but Wendy tells me this morning that San Francisco is sunny!
Trevor and I are driving down to San Diego on Wednesday to look at places for me to move to. I talked to my friend who lives down there (when they are not in Mammoth), and she says a lot of her friends are in the La Costa retirement community. She also said they are starting to build new retirement complexes like crazy because of the demand.
Trevor and Robin came over last night and we sent out for dinner. Nice to have company.
Starting to think about clothes for the reunion. It might be a bit chilly at night.

Mugs came last night! Todd and I are driving up to Seattle, then picking up Bri and Maddox to head to Marysville where Daisy and kids are. We will drive up from their home on the 16th. We will depart for Washington on the 21st.

Today I heard from Tracey who has very kindly invited us all to brunch on Saturday morning. She would like to know if anyone has any food sensitivities. They are driving with kids from Salmo, to arrive Friday16th and leave the 21st.

Rain this morning!
I woke up at midnight. Uh, oh! Will I toss and turn the rest of the night? I looked at the clock sometime later and it was after 5:00 am. Guess I was asleep and didn't know it! Felt refreshed, and went for a walk in the drizzle with my friend and her dog.
Yesterday another friend drove me to the Ladies' Luncheon at KHYC. Got to see everybody and hear all the news. Mostly it seemed to be about people falling! Even Brianne fell yesterday. She tripped over the cat! She calls me in the evening and that is such good therapy.
Got a travel itinerary for Wendy about how they will get to Whistler. Send it on by email to key people.
An email came from my brother, who is in Holland now. They were in England but missed the Manchester thing, barely. They are going back to London tomorrow and will stay near Hyde Park.
Trevor and I are making bonsais! We start today with a piece of my rosemary bush from the front. I am harvesting tomatoes, beets, kale, spinach, onions, and sweet peppers. A strawberry-a-day seems to be my ration for fruit.

Maddox has hair. Not much, but a beautiful color.
Wendy is in San Francisco for a few days, then on to Vancouver where she will speak at UBC. Then on to Whistler to be joined by Michel who flies from Paris.
Trev and Robyn came over with another load from the storage locker, and stayed for dinner.

Robin died two months ago, April 6.

Foggy all week they tell me.
Had a nice long chat with Wendy yesterday. She is off to San Francisco next. She never stops. She has some business in Vancouver (UBC) so will go there directly, then up to Whistler. Michel will go directly from Paris.
A very nice talk with Brianne in the evening as I was getting back from my walk. It brightened the day considerably. Did more research on San Diego area.
I am not sure anyone is reading these daily blogs, but I will post them anyway. Jane and I will 'blog on'!

Fog! Again!
Spent yesterday morning researching 'senior living' places around La Jolla and Carlsbad. When I get it researched a little more I will try to arrange for Andrew Mack to drive me around and have a look at them. I remember, years ago, when we lived for a winter in Laguna Beach, Robin's mother came to visit and thought she would like to move to Leisure World. I thought it was a marvelous place, with everything she could possibly need, and wished I could move there too!
But I was too young, and had too many children!! I still think it would be fun, now I am single, to have like minded people near, and not have to worry about keeping up a house. I have always enjoyed the San Diego area, and Andrew Mack is there, which would be a big plus.
If you look at Jane's comment on yesterday's news, she now has a blog too!

I am re-reading David Copperfield! Apparently somewhat autobiographical. It seems Victorians were 'politically correct' too. And men crying all over the place. It was written for Victorian ladies of leisure who loved sentimental novels, and Dickens was a master of sentiment. Robin hated "A Christmas Carol" because he thought Scrooge was judged unfairly.
Daisy had an exciting incident involving a handle cover for her frying pan which caught on fire. She got to know her neighbors very well, and there was a lot of clean-up from the fire extinguisher, but no one was hurt, thank goodness.
Todd has (had) a rocket club with several classes. He got promises from everyone that they would obey the safety rules. But promises are made to be broken, right? Kids jumped on back of car (a no no), and jumped over fence, (another no no). No more rocket club.
Took Trevor and Robyn to the King Harbor Yacht Club last night. There was a little band, and some of the members got up and sang. And danced.
Had a nice long talk with Andrew Mack on his drive home. May go down his way sometime and check out over 55 (Baby Boomer) places in La Jolla, University Village, Coronado and Carlsbad.

Sunshine!
I am trying to figure out how to post pictures on the blog. Patience.
Heard from John and Nancy. They are looking forward to the reunion and seeing everyone.
Trevor moved more stuff into my garage yesterday. We are trying to figure how we might get some of the big heavy stuff that Bri or Daisy could use, up to Seattle area.
Wendy called to say Alex is enjoying his new job with a small architectural firm in Paris. He is in heaven enjoying all the fine French cuisine. He works from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm with, of course, time off for lunch. He loves it. No word from Matthew who should be in Seattle starting with Microsoft.

The sun finally came out.
Late posting today. I went to Costco, confidently handed them my card (which was under Robin's business account) and it said, 'nope' no good. Beware. I will have to take out one under my own account. Nuisance.
Heard from John and Nancy! They are reading the blogs, but still need to find out how to comment. Why do the software folks make it so hard?????
I have spent the afternoon getting some craft materials together. Starting to feel creative again.
