Warm, beautiful sunny day.
Trevor called about 9:00 yesterday sounding terrible. We cancelled the work day so he could get some sleep. He took something to knock out the cough, but it made him drowsy and upset his stomach. Talked to him later and he sounded a little better. Haven't heard today from him. (8:30am)
My cough seems to be loosening without the aid of Robutussin. Wendy is still coughing a bit too, so as she says, it has a long tail. Talked to Wendy from Paris at 7:00 am this morning. She was at the Chateau, demonstrating the 'Santa Machine' which little by little I am beginning to understand. As today is Saturday, families are showing up instead of classes of schoolchildren. They stand around looking at the machine, and if someone is standing in the right place Santa imitates their every movement.This is fun, but wait! Suddenly a staircase appears, which Santa begins happily to climb. If the person Santa is imitating makes the 'wrong' move, Santa looks sad and moves down the stair. If the right move is made, he looks happy and moves up. At the top is a lever, so when the person gets him there Santa pulls the lever. Then 'The Machine" cranks into action, with all sorts of things happening Rube Goldberg fashion. This is the favorite exhibit in the Chateau Museum!
Heard from Mack as he was driving home. He is fine, and enjoying his new status.
Brianne called about 8:00 pm. This is her quiet time, to feed Maddox and put the day in perspective. They got the house loan, so there is just the appraisal to be done, and sometime near the end of August they will move in! David is enjoying his new job in Olympia, further from where they live now, but much closer to the new house. He gained the distinction of becoming a real man yesterday, when he changed a diaper for the first time!
Daisy, with Ian gone, is battling home ownership by herself, and doing a good job I would say. She will have to feed Richard lots of vitamins, so he can grow big and strong, now that he is 'the man of the house'. Hear that, Richard?
Tonight I am going with friends to a dinner and show honoring Al Jolson. Report on that tomorrow.

I'm slowly catching back up after being gone a month and a half. Today we tackled the garden, in particular, an overgrown lemon tree. It has wonderful lemons, hundreds at a time, 3 or 4 times a year. We let the tree get to be over 20 feet tall when it should be about half that. Got half done today. Filled one 96 gallon garden refuse tote with at least that much on the ground. We have a full box of lemons to give away plus at least three more boxes of lemons left on the tree. New crop has already begun, little tiny half inch green lemons. Even with gloves and long sleeves, you gets some scratches and mosquito bites. I relished the lack of mosquitoes at Bri's house. It was 96 degrees Fahrenheit today so you garden only in the morning when it's a bit cooler.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to our local theater tonight to see "Southern Comfort". Not sure what it's about. Some shows are original. They have children's theater and adult. It's next to the high school and they have acting classes for kids through teens. Tiny, only 72 seats per show. No bad seats. Not as polished as the ones you have been seeing, but a good sense of humor and we enjoy it.
Lots of drama here!Locked out of the house for 2 hours, took a Chief, a Youth Pastor and a firefighter to break in the garage.We have a smart home so it's hard to break into.
ReplyDeleteWe lost a koi yesterday, the digging took a while and We had a funeral for it,with tombstone and all.We had to cut through a lawyer of fabric,dig up rocks.
I've also mowed our almost 1/4 acre with has a slant twice,this time without mowing the cord. A friend came yesterday and we dug up 5 bushes up front.Next I need to replace them with nicer ones.
