This morning I am off to Nevada with Trevor for his firearms class.

Window washers never came!!

Another grey day in Manhattan Beach,  I will be glad to get some desert sun.

Love to all,  Val

  1. Gray would be nice. Hit 99 degrees yesterday, supposed to hit 101 today. I have been frantically trying to catch up on gardening. Since I stayed the extra two weeks since Maddox arrived a week late, I missed the prime in the garden time. Came back to powdery mildew, black spot and peach leaf curl and something attacking my large lemon tree ( less so the lime and orange trees). In three days we have harvested over 100 lemons and have at least 50 left. This is not counting the new crop of 1/2" sized green lemons. Fortunately, friends, neighbors, and co-workers happily take what we don't want. I have a great recipe for lavender lemonade..... I now have a brush pile about 15 feet x 4 feet x 3 feet tall of all that I have trimmed. So much more to do. Some can't be done in over 90 degree weather. But, the rains that I missed that caused the harm are behind us. Weather is now dry and sunny and should remain so until September. And, we get 20-30 degree variation each day, similar to the desert, so mornings and evenings are usually very pleasant except when temperatures hit 100+ degree days.

I love hearing about what others are doing. Great hearing from the Canadian side! Trev, I don't have to tell you to enjoy your class, I know you will!

  3. Enjoyed your comments, Heather. Gardening in California can be iffy. I know in Mammoth I could never count on the weather to do what I hoped. Too cold. Too dry. Too late. Manhattan Beach has given me edible greens and tomatoes this year, but now its starting into the June gloom which is mildew time! Lemon tree has taken a beating from the remodeling next door.
