More June gloom this morning.
Got a call from Heather last night about T shirts with a Bri design for the reunion. I was a bit negative on T shirts as I'm not sure everyone would want one. She was suggesting Bri's bear design, which Robin greatly admired. We also have a Manu Forte design by Bri. We talked about hats and scarves. Input please.
Revision on the snacks. Trevor feels we should at least try to get everyone together at the end of each day, and food is a secondary consideration. I tend to agree. Since Trevor and I don't snack, and usually skip lunch, we may be a little biased on the food. We are not there to eat, but to meet relatives.
We are expecting everyone to show up on Friday, some driving, some flying. Everyone except Ian, Mack and David. Their plans are uncertain.
The Peak to Peak dinner at the top is available for Saturday and Sunday. I think it is a great idea and will see if we can make reservations. Hopefully they will be flexible for a poor sailor who has been called to duty overseas!
Yesterday Trevor took me to the Hermosa Beach fair where we manned a Republican booth for a few hours. The interest is growing!
Today Trevor and I tiger into bills, etc. and THROWING AWAY STUFF! Its endless.
Love to you all, Val
Good morning... I've sent you my thoughts re the design and item by email.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the "snack" piece can be interpreted by each cousin as they choose to - and I 100% agree with the connection each day - I wonder about a coffee time in the morning and a happy hour time in the evening before supper - everyone bringing their own whatever... perhaps in a mug or water bottle with the Bribear on it???
Off to do practicum site visits... Have a lovely sunny day!
I may be coming from a different place here. I don't really want a tee shirt to say I was there, I want to get to know my long lost family in a relaxing comfortable enivironment. I think the tee shirt adds a lot of work and effort and expense to a couple of people for something that will be used once. (I'm a bit biased, I'm throwing away a bunch of stuff right now as I slim down my life from a house to an apartment)
ReplyDeleteI would like to try and cook for everybody one night. We have looked at the picture of the room, it has a full stove and refrigerator. House keeping can give us extra plates or we can go crazy and buy one time use plates.
When Robin. died, we all got together every night after doing "our thing" during the day. Whistler is a beautiful place with lots of daytime activities, I like the idea of getting together at the end of the day to eat, drink talk of life and the days adventures.
As mun said, I'm not really a snack or lunch person. I don't do sugar anymore (I went from 220 to 170 by cutting out sugar). But that's my thing, I'm not pushing my life style on anybody else.
I'm looking fwd to seeing everybody and adding a new place to my long list of places I've been.
I'll bring a nice bottle of Scotch if anybody would like a wee dram!
Mugs have been designed. Mack got interested in some of the files I created... several of Bri's designs that I played with. In Photoshop, you can have transparent pixels then have a layer that adds different backgrounds. The transparency gives you so many choices as to how to use the works. One or more colors can be added to the design, different backgrounds can be created, shapes can be made of parts of her work... possibilities are endless. I'm grateful that Bri lets me play. Anyway, I learned stuff and learned that there's basic stuff that I have not mastered yet. Bottom line it was a great excuse to play with Bri's Manu Forte and Bear works.
